Cy Hutchinson
From an early age, Cy was fascinated by Nature and her complexities. These, along with a strong interest in early cultures and the objects they produced are often seen in aspects of his work.
Formally trained in Modern Furniture Design and Making in England, this four-year intensive course gave Cy all the hand skills needed to create his designs to a high standard. He began creating sculptural pieces around 2009 after becoming disillusioned with the constraints of the functionality necessary in furniture design, and he has never looked back.
An intuitive understanding of materials and how they work has led Cy to where he is today. He combines an almost childlike curiosity and enthusiasm with a strong desire to keep pushing boundaries and reaching goals he sets for himself.
Cy's work is constantly evolving.
Cy's work has been recognized and awarded both locally and internationally. His work can be found in the permanent collections of The Central Bank of Barbados, The National Cultural Foundation, The Barbados National Collection and in private and public collections around the world.
