Brandon Best

Brandon Best is passionate about the development of Barbadian culture and identity, recognizing that cultural identity can not only be reached by knowing and understanding our history but also by “projecting what we want for ourselves; what kind of people we want to be; what are our values”.

His work seeks to portray Barbados as more than an island of sun, sea and sand, and highlights his perceptions as a millennial living in the Caribbean with experience in the tourism industry.

Brandon seeks to gain knowledge to inspire, educate and motivate youth “to proudly produce works of all kinds of media and to contribute to our future National Art Gallery”.

For Brandon, his choice of colours is usually influenced by some of his favourite music which transcribes into the mood of the painting and usually guides the “subject matter”.
